Homelessness affects women as well as their children. At Providence Ministries, it is one of our top priorities to assist mothers who are in a homeless crisis. In January of 2009, our ministry was very proud and excited to open the Women’s & Children’s Homeless Shelter in Dalton, Georgia. Our mission’s purpose is to offer a temporary place of refuge so the mother can safely address the economic, social, and spiritual issues that led to her family’s homelessness.
The generous contributions received from our donors, and the revenues received from Providence Thrift Stores are providing homeless women and children the opportunity to start again in a Christ-centered and compassionate environment. Currently, our Women’s & Children’s Homeless Shelter Program can house a total of 12 persons (any combination of women and children). To be approved for shelter, the mother must be economically homeless. Women who are suffering from a physical/mental disability or are involved in a domestic dispute or battered situation, are referred to an appropriate, outside resource facility.
Are you homeless or know someone who is?
At Providence Ministries, we care!
